So on Baker's birthday I was over at Tommy's and discovered that he and I have a lot of similiar intrests in music. One of which is Ani Di Franco.
When her music came over his stereo, i about freaked and commented, " I thought I was the only guy that knew who she was, let alone listened to her music." To my surprise, not only does Tommy like her stuff but so did Mark and Allen's wife (I won't touch that one). I have her Plastic Castles, Dilate and Evolve albums. I can't say which is my favorite because they each have their style and effect on me. High energy and always a great mood elevater.
We also found that we both liked Poe, Bjork and Frank Zappa. I feel our politics may be worlds apart, but at least we have some common ground outside of gaming. I brought this up, because during the course of the day we played a game called In Pursuit (which I won). Tonight at Borders Tommy made a remark that I should check out the comments on BGG about the game.
And there it was under someone's comments
"Only played once, and half of that was with the original questions that came with the game. They were a little too "current events" for the group I was with, (How anybody over 30 would know who Ani DiFranco is is beyond me.) so we dug out a set of Trivial Pursuit cards from a base game and used those for the second half."
Hehe, really funny, considering Mark, Tommy and myself are closer to 40 (Mark even past that) than 30. Funny, it seems like whenever I have a long discussion with someone on a topic, that topic appears more in my life. Or is it the perception that changes? As we discuss or work with things and keep them fresh in our minds, then they become more easily noticed?
