Top Gear

I have to stop watching this show. Every time I watch BBC's Top Gear I find a new car that I want, only to realize it is nowhere near what I could afford in my lifetime.

Sigh...
Enjoy the fastest car on Earth

Randall Scramble 2007

While I'm not an avid golfer, I do like to play in an annual tournament that one of my co-workers runs (and I get credit/blame for the name)
The scramble format is each team has four players and you play from the best shot of one of the four players. We started in 1999 and it was a simple collection of guys looking to have fun. Over the years it has been fun to watch it expand through word of mouth and see some of the serious golfers out there.

This year, however, my team fell apart before we even got to the gate and the organizer begged me to show up and be his photographer. This year he introduced a "trick hole" and a "ball girl" to hand out prizes and pose with the teams.

The new plague

With all the talk of the pandemic "super flu" that is going to kill us all in the next few years. These stories of a "superbug" strain of staph made me sit up and take notice:

Virginia Schools closed

And lastly, Staph infections kill more than AIDS

A coworker's son had a scare with it last year. Apparently high school football fields are rife with the stuff and any "turf burn" or open wounds is enough for this bug to get in. Hospitals are another great place to catch staph infections, but nowhere is really safe.

As with most other diseases we have been throwing drugs at, I guess it is not surprising that a drug resistant strain has appeared. And to make it even scarier it can travel between all warm blooded animals.
