The new plague

With all the talk of the pandemic "super flu" that is going to kill us all in the next few years. These stories of a "superbug" strain of staph made me sit up and take notice:

And lastly, Staph infections kill more than AIDS

A coworker's son had a scare with it last year. Apparently high school football fields are rife with the stuff and any "turf burn" or open wounds is enough for this bug to get in. Hospitals are another great place to catch staph infections, but nowhere is really safe.

As with most other diseases we have been throwing drugs at, I guess it is not surprising that a drug resistant strain has appeared. And to make it even scarier it can travel between all warm blooded animals.
